Traditional M?ori used the poi dance to keep their hands flexible for their activities like weaving or warfare. Nowadays poi dance is a beautiful art form. The beautiful green pattern was designed by New Zealand Māori artist Sharmz Waiomio.
The original artwork featured on the piece is called Kotahitanga. It represents unison; the binding together of people from all life paths to come together and be one. Waiomio's work showcases te ao Māori through digital drawing. Sharmz is a descendant of Te Arawa, Nga Puhi, Ngati Kahungunu & Ngati Tuwharetoa.
